Are your translations accepted by Peru government agencies?

Yes. We provide a traducción certificada by a Traductor Colegiado Certificado of the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (CTP). CTP-certified translations carry legal validity for national and international procedures and are accepted by Migraciones, SUNEDU, courts, and notaries. If the specific office you're submitting to has unusual requirements, tell us up front and we'll format to match.

Do you translate from Spanish to English as well?

Yes. We translate in both directions — English to Spanish (for documents you're submitting in Peru) and Spanish to English (for Peruvian documents you need in the US or for English-speaking institutions).

No. Many of our clients start the process from the United States or other countries. You can send digital copies of your documents, and we deliver certified translations electronically. We serve clients worldwide.

$150 per document for 1-2 documents, or $130 per document when you order 3 or more. Every document includes certified translation and notarization. One document = one complete source file (birth certificate, diploma, etc.), regardless of page count.

Yes. Every translation includes one round of revisions at no additional cost. If a government agency requests specific changes, we'll update the translation at no charge.

What's the difference between certified and notarized translations?

A CTP-certified translation (traducción certificada) is prepared by a Traductor Colegiado Certificado and presented with a cover sheet, the translator's colegiatura number, post-firma seals, and a sworn declaration (declaración jurada). It carries legal validity on its own. Notarization is a separate act performed by a notario público that some procedures additionally require. We arrange notarization when the receiving authority requires it.

What is an apostille and do I need one?

An apostille is an international certification under the Hague Apostille Convention, to which Peru is a party. A foreign document is apostilled by the competent authority in the country that issued it — for US documents, that is the relevant Secretary of State or the US Department of State. A document already apostilled in its country of origin is not re-apostilled in Peru. Migraciones and SUNEDU generally require foreign documents to be apostilled (or legalized through the consulate and MRE).

Can you help me get an apostille for my US documents?

No. The apostille is a government function carried out in the document's country of origin, so it is not a service we sell. We provide the CTP-certified Spanish translation. The usual order of operations is: apostille the document in the US first, then have it translated — because the apostille itself is also translated.

Does the translation itself need to be apostilled?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. If the authority you're submitting to requires the translation itself to be certified by Peru's Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (MRE / Cancillería), that step is also a government function we don't perform — but we'll explain the order of operations so you know when it applies.

Which documents need to be translated for a Peru visa or residency?

Migraciones requires that any document not in Spanish be translated by a state-recognized colegiado translator, and foreign documents must be apostilled (or legalized via the consulate and MRE). Common documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, police/FBI background checks, bank statements, and income letters. Exact requirements depend on your calidad migratoria (Rentista, Trabajador, Inversionista, Familiar, etc.) — check the current requirements on the official Migraciones portal.

What documents does SUNEDU require for degree recognition?

Accepted Answer

SUNEDU's reconocimiento de grados y títulos extranjeros typically involves your diploma and official transcripts; the foreign diploma must be apostilled (or legalized) and documents not in Spanish must be translated. SUNEDU accepts a simple translation as well as an official, certified, or special translation — we recommend a CTP-certified translation as the safe standard. Note that SUNEDU recognizes a foreign degree (reconocimiento); revalidación is a separate process handled by Peruvian universities. Confirm current requirements on SUNEDU's official pages.

What's the difference between a TPJ and a CTP-certified translator?

A Traductor Público Juramentado (TPJ) is appointed by Peru's Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, and a TPJ's signature is non-delegable by law. We do not deliver or sign sworn TPJ translations. What we provide is a traducción certificada by a Traductor Colegiado Certificado of the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (CTP), which carries legal validity for national and international procedures and is accepted for visa, SUNEDU, court, and notarial use. If a specific authority insists on a TPJ translation, tell us and we'll let you know.
